Re: Trying to understand syncing DAW/Midronome/Ext Hardware
Press play on DAW, press play on Midronome? Or does the Midronome listen to MIDI Start/Stop messages? The Midronome does listen to MIDI Start/stop messages sent over the USB, which will have the same effect as pressing on the Play button on the device (then, on the next bar, the device will send it...

Re: iOS - Audiobus
Hi :) Communication between an app and the Midronome is possible but not particularly easy. It looks like the app can receive (and follow) MIDI Clock, and the Midronome sends MIDI Clock over its USB port, so you need to send this to the app somehow. It will require either a computer in between to fo...

Re: Can anyone confirm if you can really control the midi time clock BPM via expression pedal?
Hi :) Not sure where you saw this (the documents?), but no you cannot. This is one of the potential future features, which I will start implementing after people voted for it. Like all other potential future features in this board: https://forum.midronome.com/viewforum.php?f=11 (the one about the ex...

Re: Trying to understand syncing DAW/Midronome/Ext Hardware
Hi Mlaf :) Unfortunately you will *always* have to mess around with nudging stuff if you want your stuff to be exactly on the grid. There is just no avoiding it since each device will have a different latency, and some devices might even not follow the clock very well (that's much less probable thou...

Re: Why is the TRS labelled "CV"?
I would like to know how they handle the "start over" or "continue" message. But yes basically all it needs is to send the clock on one part of the cable (tip in TRS) and a start/stop 5V gate on the other part (ring in TRS). The gate can be interpreted as start/stop or continue/s...

Thank you for voting ha ha
But don't worry I will put up a proper vote system soon. Both swing and clock shifting will be on the vote system
(I can see I wrote January/February above... yes things take time
it will come but it will be in April
)
Cheers

Re: CV-clock start/stop and 48ppq
I would need to do some investigating to be 100% certain, but I am pretty sure all those devices will work witha 0->5V analog clock?
If so the Midronome has a "Anlg" TRS output which can output a clock between 1ppq and 24ppq, then this should work

Re: The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection
This has always been very clear: this is an add-on module to a device that is not even made yet. So yes, first I need to make the device, then handle quite a few firmware updates, potential firmware bugs, probably design a few of these simpler modules, and only after all this I will start designing ...

Re: Midronome to One Trick Pony
Hi :) Well actually the solution to your problem is easy, it's called... the Midronome :D Maybe you did not know: you can hook up a simple footswitch to the Midronome (actually you can hook up max 2) to control mute/unmute, play/pause, or tap tempo (or a mix of these if you have 2 footswitches). Pre...

Re: The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection
Of the module? Don't expect it for at least a year, probably 2 :) (it took me 3 years to develop the Midronome, and just to take another example the guys making Reliq were working on it for 5 years before even starting to market it :D ) If you're asking about the Midronome well I send regular update...

Hey Gary That is cheeky indeed ha ha :D It's ok I don't mind. As for comparing it to the Midronome, well they are two very dif...

Hi Frank!
Nice to know your opinion on the matter
But yes I agree, I also prefer a constantly running clock (I mean at the end I did make the Midronome for myself, so yes my opinion matters
). So no worries if this is implemented, it will be an option
Cheers

Re: Tempo detection from actual audio beat
Hey Roland! Thanks for writing :) Yes I agree - such a feature could be awesome! Re: Click Audio Out connection to stage XLR snake
Hi TIm :) Wow - unbelievable, I actually completely forgot about phantom power... Very ironic for an audio engineer  TRS to XLR will work perfectly fine, it's like any other balanced signal. DI box will also work but is not necessary (that's the whole point of the balanced signal). As for whet...

Stop sending MIDI Clock
Hey guys :) Currently the Midronome constantly sends MIDI Clock, regardless of the play/stop buttons (they only send a MIDI Start or Stop message - but the clock is always running). I thought this was the expected behavior of a clock, since all MIDI Clock does is "set the tempo", devices w...

Re: Power Consumption Estimate
Hi :) Well the device gets its power from the USB port, which means it is bus powered, there is no other power supply :) It works with USB 2.0 which means it does not draw at any point more than 500mA (so yes your 2021 Macbook Pro will work with it without any issue). As for how much of the battery ...

Re: Midi in - Metronome out
Hi :) The short answer is that if all you need is a metronome I doubt the Midronome is the solution. The Midronome can be used in many different ways though, so I suggest you investigate a bit more how it could improve your setup. The whole point is that its MIDI clock is precise and stable, and tha...

Re: Add a Word Clock output setting
Hey there :) That's an interesting idea indeed :D It's a little bit outside of the scope for the Midronome, as WorldClock is tempo independent, but why not! I do not know much about World Clock (other than from a user's point of view), but I doubt the current hardware would be able to provide a dece...

Re: Start devices without stopping already playing devices connected to same midronome
Ok that's interesting - you want to be able to start your sequencers but not to stop them? Why is that?
But what you described would work I believe
You will also need to stop the MIDI Clock messages from the second port otherwise you will have double clock messages
But what you described would work I believe

Re: The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection
That's an interesting debate! Because I did not think Ableton Link is really designed for Live use? ... Re: Start devices without stopping already playing devices connected to same midronome
Hey there :) The Midronome can change its Mute button to make it a second play button. In this mode you have 2 play button, one for each port, and they work independently. Alternatively, you can let the Mute button be, and simply configure the Play button so it only sends start/stop on one of the 2 ...

Re: Disable master mode when syncing to DAW
Idea from Sofus: an option where the Midronome, on top of being disabled when not synced to the DAW, would send MIDI Start and MIDI Stop automatically when the DAW starts and when the DAW stops. This way to record a sequencer all you need is to press play in the DAW, then the sequencer will start au...

No worries Gavin - but yea maybe that question should have been on the thread about swing
And yes generating a sync file should be easy enough, I can totally do that. But I think many people are rooting for swing being implemented in hardware, so let's see what the new features votes give

Hi John Things have changed a bit since my last reply. At this point I am pretty sure there will not be any plugin, at least nor for now. Re: CV sends only clock signal or also start/stop?
Hi yelg :) It sends start&stop as well, as the plug is a TRS (stereo), but only in "DIN sync" mode. In this mode the left/tip has a 24ppq analog clock, and right/ring has the start/Stop following the user pressing the play button. The start/stop is a 5V gate. There is already a new fea...
