Re: Offset and time signature

Ok - 0.5ppq and random 0.25ppq, that's noted, interesting suggestion and that would not be hard to implement ;)

Re: Current features - your thoughts

I'd love to see the tap tempo from pad work out. So the dream of playing live with the tempo set by the drummer gets real. Are there any cheap devices out there? The band has "only" a real kit. Thanks for writing masi :D You can see the pad in action in a few videos on our facebook, f.x. ...

[DONE] MIDI CC/PC commands (over USB) to change tempo & more

Hey there! This is closely related to https://forum.midronome.com/viewtopic.php?t=61 I created a new topic since there is more to it than just presets. It's official (you know it if you are on the mailing list), USB is coming to Midronome, MIDI class-compliant. USB will be used for: sending MIDI Clo...

Re: module extension

The dongle will be connected to the Midronome via USB. Hence the importance of adding USB to the device :)

I think things will be clearer once you see a 3D model of it - in like a few months or so, for now I gotta focus on this USB business ;)

Re: module extension

The module is a "Midronome module", not a "USB receiver" (=what you get from a logitech mouse). So unfortunately no, it is very specific to the Midronome and only this module will work :) Since last I've been giving more thoughts to how and where the module should be, and I had a...

Re: module extension

Hi Stefan That is not a bad idea - but the first production batch (i.e. the one with Kickstarter) will have the basic version. So with your idea anyone who backed the Kickstarter and want the fancy stuff will need to buy the new version. Other issue is to add Ableton Link f.x. I need to change the c...

Re: [ALREADY DONE] different even and odd time divisions for the CV-clock

Ha ha well nice that you ask - let's see what would be easier to understand then :) Just remember all the device has is 3 digits. The original design was showing 4 to 96 (4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 96), meaning 4th note, 8th note, 16th note, etc. Problem was for 8th triplets it would show 12 for exam...

Re: different even and odd time divisions for the CV-clock

Hi Masi :) On the Midronome you can already adjust the CV clocks to be anything from 0 to 24ppq (potentially 48ppq as discussed in the other topic). So one pulse with straight 32rds: set CV clock 1 to 8ppq and other at 16th triplets: set CV clock 2 to 6ppq See https://www.facebook.com/midronome/vide...

Re: Tempo detection from actual audio beat

Just FYI - I got contacted by the inventor of the Ableton Tempo Follower :D Currently trying to speak to him and other people at Ableton to see if we can implement this in the Midronome :) It probably will add a cost as the Tempo Follower library is the IP of Ableton - but definitely worth the time ...

Re: CV-clock start/stop and 48ppq

For Eurorack either a dual pulse or a start/stop signal is useful. Could you precise what you mean by start/stop signal? Do you mean the same signal as the one on the ring in the DIN sync spec (" Ring | start/stop | stop = 0 volt, start = +5 volt " as explained on https://en.wikipedia.org...

Re: Why is the TRS labelled "CV"?

Thanks for raising the question!! I do not know much about Euroracks & like, and when I asked the Modular community it seems "CV clock" is the common term for a 5V pulse used to sync Modular synths and euroracks. Second problem is the space, and unless I put the word below (which I hav...

So I'm considering adding MTC as ouput via USB (and only USB), in order to sync DAWs which do not support MIDI Clock (i.e. all except Ableton and Bitwig). I'll experiment with it.

And yes clearly this is only useful for Live usage, especially if you need it next to the drum set for example, it's annoying to put it on a table or something like that.

Mount the Midronome on a microphone stand

Hi :) Some of you have been asking to add a way to mount your Midronome on a microphone stand. Currently the device has 4 rubber pads so it stays very nicely on a flat surface, even if it is angled (I tried and it does not move below a 20-30 degres angle). But I understand that mounting it on a stan...

Re: Disable master mode when syncing to DAW

The Midronome needs to know where the bar is, and what the tempo is. To know the tempo it needs at least 2 ticks (theoritically, in practice the code waits for one more), so 1/12th of a bar And to know where the bar is, it needs a new bar When you press play, the device could know right away this is...

This has been pointed out by allmyfriendsaresynths here: https://youtu.be/XCZqkSH9peI?t=582 Right now if you want your sequencers to start in time with the DAW, you need to: Press play in your DAW Within one bar press the play button on the Midronome Then on the next bar everything will start That's...

No the audio port used would be the audio out - so you will lose the metronome that's true. If it uses the USB we won't lose anyting ;)

Hi Dark Waves! Yep - you're exactly right :) Tip (Left) of the plug is either: * Pedal * Drum Pad * DAW sync (or any other audio sync) And the ring (Right) can only be a second pedal (mute or start/stop), along with whatever you want on the Tip. Note that if you use the pedal is set as Start/stop, i...

Re: CV-clock & pulse/run

Are you saying that have a Korg machine that needs 48ppq on one line and start/stop on the other? What do you think of this: cv tip: 0-48ppq OR start/stop 0-5V cv ring: 0-48ppq OR start/stop 0-5V (independent from tip) Put the start/stop on the Line out might be difficult, right now it's an audio ou...

Re: CV-clock & pulse/run

Thanks for writing seanac! 1) 48ppq should be easy :) 2) You are going to have to describe a bit more here. If you use the CV output in "DIN" mode (sync24), it outputs correct DIN sync signal, i.e. square wave at 24ppq on tip (left), and start/stop signal on ring (right). The start/stop si...

Ha ha ha you're a funny guy :D Well obviously the clock is the same on all ports (CV outputs are configurable from 1ppq to 24ppq though - but the speed will still change with the tempo).
