Re: MIDI-IN on input jack

Well your ASCII drawings are awesome :D And very clear ;) I understand the point with a TRS MIDI, but as I said this would be easily done with a simple DIY module, or by doing it over bluetooth once the official Midronome module is out. I will keep in mind to add it to the device, in case other peop...

Re: MIDI-IN on input jack

Hi :) Thanks for the long and very detailed explanation. You make a very good point! :) A lot of people keep asking for the very few functionalities that the Multiclock has and the Midronome has not (MIDI merging f.ex.), but at the same time call the Midronome an "in-between" device (betwe...

Re: Swing

Ok, nice to know about the devices that do not have swing, thanks for the list Pieter :) I am generally against features that make the Midronome closer to the Multiclock (and it keeps getting closer and closer... It was never my intention but people keep asking for "multiclock features" :r...

Re: usb c

Well Pieter exactly like the Ethernet on the Module, adding USB host also requires more expensive hardware and a lot of code work :D I do think it is a nice benefit for devices that have USB device and no DIN-MIDI. But how many devices can receive a MIDI Clock over USB (USB device) without having a ...

Re: The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection

Yes exactly, that's the best feature of Link, that you can contorl the tempo both ways. Everybody becomes the master as soon as they change the tempo. I guess that's also where the name "Link" comes from, showing a two-way control ;) As for Ethernet, it will be a lot of work and will requi...

Thank you @MLaf!

I've updated the FAQ. Awesome about Reason, I did not know!! Can Reason run any plugin format, like AU on mac maybe?

Hey there :)

You can adjust the brightness of the screen from 1 to 8. For now there is not auto-shutoff but this is very easy to implement if you really want ;)

Re: "Sync Signal Contents" questions

Hi :) So the short answer is: no the device cannot only sync to this special signal, which is composed of: * a 24ppqn audio pulse * the second part of the last pulse before the bar should be higher which is the signal generated by the Midronome VST plugin. The device uses the higher pulse to know wh...

Re: Midrorack - A Eurorack version of Midronome :D

I see. Well same as what I said on the other topic - we can always add more flexibility later on ;) I really hope the Midronome will be a "live" project, i.e. a product that constantly evolve. I also intend to make the whole thing open source and open hardware (probably not right at the be...

Hi :) Thanks for the info and the links! I'll definitely look more into this. Just FYI for now the reset is not a pulse but a jump from 0 to 5V, similar a the start/stop pin on the sync24/DIN Sync protocol - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_sync I'll do what I think is best before production, and t...

Re: USB vesus MIDI

Hi Dylan If you have no synchronisation or timing issues, you probably do not need the Midronome ;) It adds a bunch of pratical features though like Pedal control, drum pad control (to tap the tempo), and in the future Ableton Link and Bluetooth control. But my guess is you are not sending MIDI Cloc...

Hey there :) First I have to say that the Tempo Detection is a future feature, which will be implemented as an add-on module. Re: Nudge tempo function

Ok I just made the maths and it is actually really easy to implement! So when nudging the display will show ".xx" which is the decimal of the current tempo. So basically, say you are at tempo 145bpm. You start nudging positively and the display will show ".00" then ".01"...

Re: Nudge tempo function

Hi all :) I have had a few discussions regarding this. It seems some of you are interested in having the possibility to match micro tempos (e.g. 124.279 bpm), which I think could be implemented with the nudge function. The idea being that you can nudge the tempo at less than 1bpm per turn, and when ...

Re: The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection

Not exactly - the Midronome will internally detect the *exact* tempo and adjust so things are in time. But it will show a "rounded" version of this tempo.

For example say the detected tempo is 126.1465372346 bpm, the device will run actually at that tempo but the display will show 126.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Re: Custom MIDI commands

Hi :)

No that is not currently possible, the device only sends MIDI Clock. But yes hang on because it's definitely my intention to make this whole thing open-source, then yes you would be able to do the implementation yourself :D

But first we need a succesful Kickstarter 8-) :D

The Midronome Module - Ableton Link + Bluetooth + Beat Detection

Hi all I've been giving this a bit more thoughts, and I think a module would really work. The Module will have WiFi (for Ableton Link), Bluetooth (for configuration and control), and an audio input (6.35mm TRS balanced mono) to perform beat detection / tempo following. It will be very thin, plastic,...

Hey John :) Thanks for asking, and great you are interested! Midrorack - A Eurorack version of Midronome :D

Hello :) So after 3 days in SuperBooth being surrounded by modular synths, I can clearly see that making a Eurorack version of the Midronome would be really cool. Re: module extension

The dongle will be connected to the Midronome via USB. Hence the importance of adding USB to the device :)

I think things will be clearer once you see a 3D model of it - in like a few months or so, for now I gotta focus on this USB business ;)

The module is a "Midronome module", not a "USB receiver" (=what you get from a logitech mouse). So unfortunately no, it is very specific to the Midronome and only this module will work :) Since last I've been giving more thoughts to how and where the module should be, and I had a...

Hi Stefan That is not a bad idea - but the first production batch (i.e. the one with Kickstarter) will have the basic version.
