Re: DAWs following Midronome

Thanks for your reply on this, Simon. Since you ask for my suggestion on how to get a plug-in to facilitate DAWs following the Midronome, well, given my many years and vast amounts of inexperience and ignorance, I don't know! Perhaps it is a non-starter, and is merely wishful thinking on my part. Bu...

Re: Daw Sync Plug-In + Usamo comparison

Since the technical aspects of ARA vs. VST are already over my head, obviously I won't be one to contribute to this coding project, much as I like the idea. Just wanted to throw in the idea here, as I may have mentioned elsewhere, that, if possible, it would be great if a plug-in could cause a DAW t...

Re: Tempo presets

As mentioned elsewhere, and redirected here, an idea for recall process is, if this method isn't reserved for anything else, to press the encoder to enter recall mode, then simply turn to the preset number. At the moment, it doesn't appear the encoder is used like this at the top level, i.e. without...

Re: Tempo presets

Ok - been giving this some thought, and actually I think it's doable without hardware changes? All of these new features like this one, the tempo nudge, the expression pedal, will all be deactivated by default in order to avoid overwhelming new users :D For this one, I am thinking a quite cumbersom...

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Send MIDI Clock from the USB port

In case anyone is interested, I tried the USB as an output to a MIDI router, and sent it to a synth / sequencer, and it works great, both start / stop and tempo, especially using the Midronome as standalone master. It can pass the sync from DAW with audio sync file, but so far I haven't found an imp...

Re: MIDI Forwarding from USB to MIDI-DIN

A simple pass-through of MIDI data, in addition to the clock, would turn the Midronome into a very nice 2-in-1 product. There were comments about MIDI routing and the potential costs and complexities, but personally, I already have sufficient routing in some other units, and with just 2 DIN ports, t...

Re: Sync to any regular signal from 1 to 24ppq

This sounds like a great idea. In fact, there's a Kenton device dedicated to this function, albeit with quite a few features. Still, even a simple CV clock to MIDI clock conversion would add a lot of flexibility to setups with blended gear.

Re: Incomplete files

Tried your suggestion; renamed the blank ones to "whatever.wav" and tried them out and they work as expected. So not hard to work around, just weird that one time it worked normally. It was one of the early tries, but I don't think the first one, not really sure anymore, though. Also, to c...

[A] Sync File Gen produces wrong extension

Edit by Simon: this issue is caused by the fact the Sync File Gen is producing files without the .wav extension. --- Software Tool Sync File Generator version: 0.1-beta Operating System and version: Win 10 Short description of the issue : In about a dozen attempts, only one wave file was completed....

Re: Multiple devices on Windows

No worries, I mainly brought it up so there would be awareness of the Windows limitations, and my experience dealing with them. If it proves helpful, the information is here for reference. Clearly you're being inundated with ideas and requests, and can't prioritize everything.

DAWs following Midronome

As has been noted elsewhere, many DAWs do not follow external clock, even if they generate it and expect other devices to follow. I've asked about Studio One, and have been told that Presonus don't follow clock because it's not precise enough (kind of ironic) but the program will, apparently, sync t...

Multiple devices on Windows

Following on from comments in the FB group, here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/midronomevip/permalink/1279939782906074 about Windows handling of multiple of the same devices - Although the Device Manager may show each instance of identical devices on ports, the OS doesn't differentiate between th...

Maybe you have settings for alternative use of some buttons. Check p.11 of the manual to see some of the choices, and compare to your device.

Re: Length of Sync File

Probably I'm remembering wrong, and / or I read it wrong, bit I think someone mentioned looping in this context. Not sure if DAWs can loop a section of just one track, but do you think that would work, Simon, just looping a few bars of the sync for the duration of a song?

Hey Wolfie,

I'm going to have to try out that "Saffa" bit on a colleague. If he doesn't punch me, I'll know it's legit!

Cheers from California, where some of our budgets are tight, too, believe it or not.

Re: Disable master mode when syncing to DAW

Hi, Yes, that explains it very well. I'll have to play with the DAW to see if there's a convenient way to delay track starting after pressing play, but still outputting a clock signal. So far, in the songs I've made, all the tracks begin right at bar one (on a side note, as a non-musician, I haven't...

Re: Disable master mode when syncing to DAW

What you describe makes sense, regarding how the unit would function, and I agree that would be better for a DAW setup. However, maybe my limited experience is making some things difficult to comprehend. Why, for instance, would the Midronome not immediately catch the incoming clock from the DAW? Tr...

Input combinations

Your info describes the input as allowing one or two pedals, or audio sync or drum pad. Does the audio sync require both sides of a balanced connection? If not, could a Y-cable be used for one pedal and one audio sync source from the DAW, so that the pedal can be used for start/stop, or mute, indepe...
